Wednesday 7
Nico and Kazuki fly to Istanbul for the Turkish Grand Prix. There they split: Kazuki to the Hilton Hotel and Nico to his motorhome, which has been shipped from the preceding Spanish Grand Prix by sea.
Sunday 11
After a quiet weekend in terms of driver appearances and the race, in which Nico scored a point for eighth place and Kazuki had his first DNF, Nico and Kazuki fly home. Nico heads to Monaco, Kazuki to his home from home in Oxford in the UK.
Wednesday 14
Nico makes the short drive from Monaco to Paul Ricard for the first day of testing. His FW30 is set-up in high downforce trim in preparation for Monaco and he completes a whopping 154 laps to end the day sixth fastest.
Thursday 15
Kazuki takes over driving duties at Ricard. He completes 129 laps to be ninth on the time sheets.
Friday 16
Test driver Nico Hulkenberg gets his chance behind the wheel, but rain affects his progress and he completes just 35 laps.
Tuesday 20
Twenty four hours ahead of the Champions’ League final in Moscow, Nico takes to the football pitch in Monaco. He plays for Michael Schumacher’s ‘F1 Allstars’ XI against a celebrity team gathered by Prince Albert. The Allstars’ 4-0 win is watched by Kazuki from the touchlines.
Wednesday 21
Both drivers watch the Champions League final, Nico from his flat in Fontvieille and Kazuki in the apartment hired by the Williams marketing team for the Monaco GP week. With the first day of practice taking place the next day, neither driver stays up to watch extra time or the penalty shootout.
Thursday 22
It’s the annual AT&T Williams team party aboard the Stad Amsterdam clipper in the Monaco harbour. Both drivers attend, as do all the team’s management, engineers and mechanics.
Friday 23
Nico is one of six Formula One drivers to model up and coming designer Petra Ecclestone’s men’s range at Amber Fashion. This is his second modelling assignment in as many months, following on from the photoshoot he and Kazuki carried out for AT&T Williams’ clothing partner McGregor in Barcelona last month.
After the fashion show, Nico and Kazuki head to Sir Jackie Stewart’s suite in the Hotel de Paris to meet with guests from RBS.
Saturday 24
After qualifying, Nico meets with AT&T’s head-honchos in the Beach Plaza Hotel.
Sunday 25
It’s a busy time before the start of the Monaco Grand Prix. Kazuki meets Accenture’s guests in their suite overlooking Ste Devote. Nico and Kazuki entertain on the Thomson Reuters’ boat. Both drivers then meet with the RBS Group’s Chief Executive, Sir Fred Goodwin. Following Nico’s 100mph impact at the Swimming Pool chicane on lap 60, he is taken to Monaco’s Princess Grace hospital for a check-up before being released at 7pm. Kazuki finishes seventh in the race and returns to the UK.
Thursday 29
Kazuki flies to New York with his girlfriend and his trainer, Nick Harris. “A mixture of training and holiday”, says Kazuki. Nico flies straight to Montreal on Sunday 1 June.
