100th Win at Silverstone
The team celebrated their 100th Grand Prix win at the British GP at Silverstone in 1997. Driving the FW19, Jacques Villeneuve took the victory in his Championship-winning year. Ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix, we asked Jacques to look back...
"Driving for Williams was very special. To get into F1 with a team with such a history; that has won so many races and championships, is the best way to come into Formula One because you can learn so much from everyone in the team. Racing is all consuming at Williams, it pretty much rules everyone’s lives, they are all so passionate about it and so it was a great place for me to be.
To win the 100th Grand Prix for Williams was therefore something really special for me and the team. It was in 1997, at Silverstone. That year, I was either going very well or very badly so the fact that we won that race meant it was obviously going really well that weekend!"
