Kazuki's German Blog: Friday

I enjoyed my first experience of the Nurburgring in a Formula One car. It’s an interesting and enjoyable track to drive, and it’s amazing how much faster things happen than in GP2!The weather made it quite tricky out there because the cool temperatures – air 12 degrees, track 15 degrees – made it hard to get heat into the harder tyre. To make matters worse, the afternoon session was interrupted by rain, which made the track conditions quite unpredictable. But we managed to complete our full programme and we have a lot of data to go through this evening.
Away from the racetrack, this is quite an easy weekend from a logistics point of view because I’m staying the Dorint Hotel, which overlooks the start-finish straight. I can walk to and from the F1 paddock, which is nice, and en route back to the hotel this evening I stopped in at the Mercedes hospitality suite. There was a party going on and lots of people were there – Michael Schumacher, my team-mate Nico, Ralf Schumacher, Norbert Haug, Ross Brawn etc – and we had a good time.
I went to bed at 10pm, but rumour has it that most others – those not driving tomorrow – partied late into the night…
