For the first time this year, Nico Rosberg didn’t qualify inside the top 10 at the Nurburgring. This created some logistical problems because when he pulled up at his 15th position on the grid prior to the start, there was hardly anyone from the team to meet him! Clearly, his engineers aren’t used to walking so far in 2009.

In case rain were to cause havoc during another qualifying session this year (as was the case at the Nurburgring), Nico is probably hoping that his side of the pit garage doesn’t eat too much at the Williams summer barbecue at Grove next weekend. Otherwise they’ll never make it past P10 on the grid…

Not everyone will be able to make it to the summer BBQ, however, because Kazuki Nakajima is scheduled to drive one of last year’s FW30s at the annual Moscow City Racing event in the Russian capital next Saturday. Here’s hoping that Kazuki doesn’t have the same visa issues as Nico last year…

Our test driver Nico Hulkenberg has become the first driver since Nelson Piquet in 2006 to win both GP2 races in the same weekend. Following Nico’s dominant victory in yesterday’s feature race, he was forced to start this morning’s sprint race from eighth position, but he was back in front by lap 14. Attaboy!
