Kazuki's Valencia Blog: Saturday

What have I done to deserve all this bad luck? My throttle stuck open during Q1, with the result that I wasn’t able to complete a flying run on the option tyre. I had no warning: one minute everything was fine, the next it was game over. I’m now starting the race from 17th and it will be very difficult to get a result unless there’s a Safety Car.
This is a very important time of year because all the driver decisions for next year are being made. I need a good result to prove my credentials and it’s very hard to do that when I keep having all these technical problems. All I can do is continue to push and hope that my luck changes at Spa.
Away from the racetrack, I joined the other drivers and all the team principals for a photoshoot at the Palao des Arts Reina Sofia this evening. We were raising money for the Pequeno Deseo Foundation, which is huge here in Spain. It was a fun occasion, with quite a lot of banter between the drivers, although I found it hard to be jolly after the afternoon I’d had.
I was back at the hotel by 8pm, where I watched a bit more of the athletics World Championships. It was the 4x400m tonight – the hardest distance of all?
Here’s to a better day tomorrow.
