Race day got off to a bad start for Andy Murdoch, Kazuki Nakajima’s data engineer. He was driving the engineers’ minibus to the circuit this morning when a crazed Fernando Alonso fan T-boned him at some traffic lights. No-one was hurt in the accident, but it was hardly a good omen for Kazuki’s race – which ended in retirement.
There was great disappointment this afternoon when Cristiano Ronaldo failed to show up for the race. The Real Madrid footballer had planned to attend the European Grand Prix as a guest of Ferrari, but fans had to make do with Eric Clapton instead. Were there any Tears in Heaven?
Congratulations to AT&T Williams test driver Nico Hulkenberg, who won this morning’s GP2 Series sprint race. With just three rounds remaining, he has a 20-point lead over Vitaly Petrov in the championship. You’re almost there, Nico…
All but one of the team press officers gathered for dinner last night. The absentee was Toro Rosso’s Fabiana Valenti, who got married during the summer break. She nipped to New York with her beau and got married. Many congratulations from everyone at AT&T Williams.
