Everyone likes to complain about the traffic at Silverstone, but what about Monza? Nico Rosberg was meant to be at a Randstadt event in Milan at 8.30 this evening, but he didn’t arrive until 9.30pm due to traffic problems leaving the circuit. No-one’s going to suggest that Monza should be taken off the F1 calendar, are they?

Nico didn’t only leave the Randstad guests waiting; his girlfriend Vivian was left strumming her fingers in a restaurant in downtown Milan. Not that she was worried about her beau’s absence; she studied interior design in Milan and was catching up with lots of her Italian mates.

With the English Premiership season in full swing, the progress of Chelsea is a keen topic of conversation in the AT&T Williams pit garage. Our director of engineering, Patrick Head, and Nico Rosberg’s number one mechanic, Toby Brown, are both avid supporters of ‘Chelski’ and touch base after every game. “How did we do?” asked Patrick this evening. “Not bad,” came Toby’s reply from underneath the FW31. “2-1 winners against Stoke.”

Fabio Capello, the head coach of the England Football Team, was a guest of Ferrari today. It wasn’t his first trip to Monza, however, because he used to attend the race every year when he was head coach of AC Milan 20 years ago. “The Italian Grand Prix at Monza,” he said, “is a race that cannot be missed!”
