iWitness in Monza: Sunday

AT&T Williams’ Phil Kennard has been an absentee at the last two races. While the team has been at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza, Phil has been doing battle off the south coast of England at the International 14 Class National Sailing Championships. He finished fourth overall with co-sailor Mark Upton-Brown. Good effort lads!
Eagle-eyed television viewers of today’s Italian Grand Prix will have noticed that there were no helicopter shots for the first time this year. We don’t know why this was the case, but find it hard to believe that it was due to air traffic control restrictions. All suggestions on a postcard please!
Antonio “Pizzaman” Pizzonia was a welcome guest in the AT&T Williams garage this afternoon. The Brazilian, who had travlled to Monza with his friend Rubens Barrichello, contested nine races for us in 2004/’05 and scored all eight of his career world championship points for the team.
This being the final European race of the season, it’s the last time we’ll see the AT&T Williams motorhome this year. In Singapore the team will revert back to the ‘fly away’-spec pit buildings in which to entertain guests and our hospitality manager Cristian Mendez will have to cope with six fewer members of staff. To those of you who will be staying at home, thanks for all your hard work since Barcelona. We’ll miss you!
