Mine lasts longer than yours. Frank Williams and Bernie Ecclestone both flew to Singapore on private planes and their pilots were overheard discussing their respective journeys last night. Whereas Frank had to make a refuelling stop in the Middle Easy, Bernie’s Falcon 7x completed the 12-hour flight non-stop. How’s about that?

The seven-hour delay to the schedule in Singapore has put many aspects of the weekend out of sync, but none more than the drivers’ press breakfasts. It was Kazuki’s turn to host the Japanese media today, but his press breakfast became a press tea in which sandwiches and good old English Breakfast were served up. Sadly, there were no boxes…

Nico Rosberg taught Lewis Hamilton Italian when they were team-mates in karting, so it was with some surprise that Nico overheard his chum telling an Italian TV crew that he couldn’t speak any Italian this afternoon. “Yes you can,” shouted Nico, to which Lewis replied: “There’s no way I could repeat the Italian you taught me on television. This is a family show!”

Both candidates for the next FIA presidency are in the Singapore paddock, but they have yet to speak to one another. Jean Todt and Ari Vatanen are pressing flesh up and down the pitlane, but the former work colleagues (Todt was Vatanen’s boss at the Peugeot rally team) have yet to meet in person. Come on guys, come for a cuppa chez Williams
