Nico's Singapore Blog: Sunday

What’s there to say? I made a mistake exiting the pits after my first pitstop and it cost me second place in the Singapore Grand Prix. It was my mistake; it was a stupid mistake and I feel very sorry for the team.
However, there are lots of positives to take from the weekend and we shouldn’t let the disappointment of scoring no points overshadow them. The car was absolutely fantastic on both light and heavy fuel and I have to say a big thank you to everyone back at Grove for all their hard work. The FW31 is one of the fastest cars on the grid on high downforce tracks and I love driving it!
Roll on Suzuka, where I hope we can again challenge at the front. I’m not sure that we’ll be as competitive as we were in Singapore because it’s a much faster racetrack, but I do expect us to be more competitive than we were at Spa-Francorchamps, a track that places quite similar demands on the car.
En route to Japan I’m stopping in Hong Kong for an RBS PR event on Tuesday. I’ll stay there on Tuesday night, before heading on to the land of the rising sun on Wednesday. Japan is always a fun place to visit because it’s very different to Europe and the fans are passionate about F1, albeit in a typically reserved Japanese way.
Catch up with you soon,
Nico
