Kazuki's Abu Dhabi Blog: Sunday

Today’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a disappointing way to end my season. I started and finished the 55-lap race in 13th position, having spent most of the evening (twilight race, remember) stuck behind either Heikki Kovalainen or Kimi Raikkonen. The most encouraging news of the afternoon was my fastest lap, which was 0.4s quicker than I’d managed in Q2 yesterday.
There are no points for finishing 13th, so I end the season pointless. When you consider that I scored nine points last year in my rookie season, it seems very unfair that I should have had such a fruitless season in year two. I know that I’ve been driving better this year because my consistency has improved, so I feel pretty frustrated by 2009.
As some of you might already know, I’m leaving AT&T Williams at the end of the year. I don’t yet know what the future holds, but I’m talking to several teams and pushing hard to secure a race drive in F1. What I can say for certain is that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my two season with the team and I’ll forever be grateful to them for giving me my break in F1. Thank you!
From Abu Dhabi I’m going to fly back to Europe, where I will remain for the foreseeable future. F1 is a Euro-centric sport and it’s where I need to be until I’ve sorted out my future.
Thanks to all of you for your support this year.
