iWitness Silverstone Sunday
Posted on Sunday 08 Jul 2007
Lewis mania has gone stratospheric. Genuine A-listers flocked to Silverstone on raceday, led by David and Victoria Beckham. They made the short trip from Beckingham Palace in Hertfordshire after demanding tickets from their management company 19. It wasn’t Victoria’s first experience of F1, however: she performed as a member of the Spice Girls at the McLaren launch in 1997.“Oh, ah Nico – rah!” No, iWitness isn’t making it up: the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders performed a routine outside the ATT Williams garage on race morning. And these were no ordinary pom-pom girls: Bibiana Julian, new to their squad this year, was recently voted America’s sexiest cheerleader. Oh yes.
Alex Wurz had a new lid in the race. It was designed by 12-year-old Summer Finlay, who won a competition organised by ATT Williams sponsor Hamleys. “She’s done a great job,” said Alex. “It’s a simple, but very effective design.” However, he’ll revert back to his normal design at the Nurburgring.
A quick shout for the team's test driver Kazuki Nakajima. He is contesting the GP2 Championship this year and finished third in both of the weekend’s races. Good job, Kazza!
