What, you might ask, were Nico Hulkenberg’s final preparations for his first GP weekend? A gym session with trainer Nick Harris on Thursday evening? Or yet another engineering meeting to pore over data from last year’s Bahrain GP? Nope. The Hulk had a lamb cuzza in the team’s hospitality area . (Let’s hope it’s not only his derriere that’s on fire tomorrow!)

With the world championship celebrating its 60th birthday in Bahrain, many former champions are in the Kingdom. One of them, 1992 champ Nigel Mansell, dropped into the AT&T Williams hospitality area this morning, where he was greeted with open arms. All of our former drivers are welcome, so Alan, Keke, Nelson, Alain, Damon and Jacques: come on over.

A new season means a new car and new team gear for AT&T Williams. The FW32 will hit Bahrain’s Sakhir track tomorrow, but the clothing is already in action. We have new white trainers this year from K-Swiss. That’s us: whiter than white (until we all get covered in oil and sweat!).

Michael Schumacher’s return to F1 got off to a slow start this morning when he turned up one hour late to a Mercedes press conference in the Bahraini capital of Manama. No explanation was given, but the word on the street was that his training session had over-run. Steady on, chap, you don’t want to overdo it at your age…
