Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg were the first to arrive at this evening’s drivers’ briefing. But rather than wait patiently for the others, Rubens jumped up and wrote something in Portuguese alongside Mark Webber’s name on the list. You didn’t need to speak the lingo to get the gist of his message!
Today marked the debut of AT&T Williams’ new telemetry racks in the pit garage. They’ve been re-designed over the winter by team manager Tim Newton to save weight and to make them more user friendly, so three cheers for Tim!
All of the teams on the grid are working long hours in Bahrain, but none longer than newcomers HRT. Their mechanics never returned to their hotel last night and were still hard at it long after second practice had finished. Gives you a hot flush just thinking about it…
World champion Jenson Button was heard conversing with his girlfriend Jessica Michibata in Japanese this evening. He didn’t learn anything but the most basic Japanese in his six years with Honda, yet he’s en route to being fluent after just 12 months with a Japanese girlfriend. Go figure!
