Patrick Head usually lands in Melbourne on the Friday morning of the Australian Grand Prix. This year, however, he arrived on Wednesday and spent two days visiting friends in the surfing resort of Lorne. Reports that the 64-year-old was seen catching a few waves are untrue.
The AT&T Williams press department might be down to one person at grands prix this year, but the media wouldn’t know it. The team’s press release was the first one to land in the Albert Park pressroom after free practice today, just 52 minutes after the end of the second session. Nice one Claire Williams!
“GP Ace Hoon Shame” will be the front-page headline of tomorrow’s Herald Sun newspaper in Melbourne. The story refers to an incident involving Lewis Hamilton, who was stopped by police at 1030pm this evening after doing a burnout when leaving the Albert Park circuit. The British tabloids are going to love that one...
Former Williams F1 driver Mark Webber announced today that he’s making the move into driver management. He’s lending his support to Mitchell Evans, the Kiwi racing sensation who’s currently leading the Australian Formula 3 Championship. No doubt he’ll end up in Mark’s GP3 team in Europe next year.
