Rubens’ experience showed today, particularly when it came to dealing with traffic during qualifying. He was very decisive in Q1 and Q2, and that helped him get some clear air. Nico, on the other hand, was too polite with the cars around him and that prevented him from getting a clear lap.
As a result, I feel a little frustrated with P15 because we didn’t get the best out of the car. There was more to come from it than a 1:25.748s lap in Q2, but you make your own luck in this sport and we have something to work on for the next race.
The job for this evening is to prepare some information for Nico to look at tomorrow morning. Stuff like his in and out laps during practice compared to Rubens, so he knows where he can push a bit harder in the race. I’ll also do some race preparation, such as looking at tyre pressures and take another look at the weather.
Talking of weather, Meteo France is predicting a 60 percent chance of rain at the start of the race and that percentage increases as the race goes on. It could be pretty exciting!
