The Monaco Blog: Sunday
Posted on Sunday 16 May 2010
Not a good afternoon for the team, with both cars crashing out of the Monaco Grand Prix. They were quite sizeable accidents and, luckily, Rubens and Nico were both fine. It was a great pity for Rubens in particular because he’d made a great start from ninth and was running sixth when he retired.
The crashes resulted in quite a frenetic couple of hours for me. First, I had to inform the TV crews about what happened, although we won’t know which part of Rubens’ suspension failed until we get his car back to the factory. When the drivers returned to the pits, I had to organise their television interviews.
Then it was a case of getting quotes from the relevant people in the team and writing the press release, which was the first one in the media centre. But I did get a bit of a head-start on the other teams because both of our cars were out of the race before half-distance...
It was then a case of organising Sam’s post-race media session with the print journalists, before heading back to the hotel, grabbing my bags and heading to the airport. My flight was one of the few that took off – phew!
