Were those whoops of joy we heard coming from Nico Hulkenberg’s hotel room last night? Ever patriotic, the Hulk was probably celebrating Germany’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest after 19-year-old Lena took 246 votes with her song ‘Satellite’. At least she was singing in English, Nico!

Good news for our motorhome girls Jennie and Chloe. They were upgraded to the penthouse suite of the Marriott today after both had complained of someone walking into their previous room and turning off the lights. Sounds a bit weird, doesn’t it? Until you hear that the hotel was built on a cemetery...

Ferrari celebrate their 800th race this weekend and, to mark the occasion, they threw a party for the Formula One paddock on the banks of the Bosphorus this evening. It was a great do by all accounts, but there were nervous glances when drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa drove onto the stage in the new 458 Italia. There wasn’t much room for manoeuvre, but they managed to keep it on the island.

Support for Mark Webber is growing Down Under. Sir Jack Brabham and Alan Jones, the only previous Australian world champions, have both sent messages of support to Mark this weekend – and they both think he can win the world title. If Mark were to win it, there would be a nice symmetry because it’s exactly 30 years since Jones won the title for Williams F1.
