Valencia Blogging: Thursday

Luckily, the engineers flew to Valencia yesterday. There’s flight chaos again today, although it’s not caused by an ash cloud – for once! – but Air Traffic Control strikes in France. Some people aren’t getting to Valencia until tomorrow morning, which would be a real problem for me as the cars are due on-track at 10am.
We’ve got various new bits on the car this weekend, which, if they all work, should add up to a few tenths. We then have a significant upgrade planned for Silverstone, so these are exciting times for the team. Let’s hope everything goes to plan and we can work our way back into the top 10.
I completed my final preparations for the race today and then ran through the programme with Nico [Hulkenberg]. He won a race here in GP2 last year, so he knows his way around and can hit the ground running when practice gets underway tomorrow morning.
Nico and I completed our track walk this afternoon. Everything around the circuit seems pretty much as last year, except for a few changes to the kerbs, and it was very warm out there. If the weather forecast is to be believed, Sunday’s race is going to be one of the hottest of the year so far.
