Valencia Blogging: Friday

Today was a very interesting day for the team. We tried various new parts and although we’ve still got more data to look at, the initial signs are quite positive. We’re running an updated rear suspension on the FW32; we have new guide vanes on the front wing and we’re testing our blown rear wing, or F-duct, again.
On Nico’s car we had a few problems with air leakage on the F-duct, so we took it off for the afternoon session to give us time to fix it. But Rubens ran with it all day and the results were good; his top end speeds were noticeably higher than Nico’s.
The track temperature was 45 degrees today, which was higher than at any race since the Malaysian Grand Prix in April. It made it hot work for everyone in the pitlane, but the heat caused no problems from a technical point of view. The front tyres grained in the first session, but that improved as the rubber went down and we had no such problems with the rears.
It’s only Friday, I know, but it will be intriguing to see what we can do this weekend.
