The FW32 took a significant step forward in performance at Valencia, but could there have been other forces at play as well? Rubens Barrichello brought his mate Roberto to the race – the same Roberto who’d been in Valencia last year when Rubens won for Brawn Grand Prix. The pack-up after the European Grand Prix took a bit longer than normal because the mechanics wanted to watch England playing Germany in the World Cup. They needn’t have bothered, eh? Mind you, there was one happy face in the motorhome after the game, one N Hulkenberg. Don’t say a word, Nico...
The next race on the F1 calendar is the British Grand Prix. Silverstone’s layout has been altered since last year, so we sent two engineers to the British MotoGP race there last weekend to gen up. Tony Ross and Tom McCullough, Rubens’ and Nico’s race engineers, were guests of Yamaha and they came away with lots of insider info.
A big shout to former Williams F1 driver Mark Webber, who suffered an enormous accident during today’s European Grand Prix. Everyone here is glad you’re okay, mate.
