Please, Claire, can I have some more? Chocolate cake was being scoffed in the team's motorhome this afternoon to celebrate Claire Williams’ birthday. The team’s feisty PR guru wouldn’t reveal her age, so iWitness will hazard a guess tomorrow morning after seeing how quickly she recovers from her hangover…
If you thought ATT Williams driver Nico Rosberg stayed in his motorhome for convenience, think again. A lack of space in the immediate environs of the track has forced him to park his Winnebago two kilometres from the Nurburgring. Meanwhile, the drivers staying in the Dorint Hotel – including his team-mate Alex Wurz – can walk to the paddock.
In the end, nature couldn’t wait. Nick Heidfeld’s girlfriend, Patricia, gave birth to the couple’s second child – a boy, Joda – at 5.24am on Saturday morning. Nick immediately organised transport back to Switzerland after qualifying to spend time with his family. “I promise to be back for the race,” he told BMW Sauber boss Mario Theissen.
Does Kimi Raikkonen work harder than he lets on? His reputation for leaving the paddock early is in jeopardy after iWitness spotted him in a meeting with Bridgestone’s head of track engineering operations Kees van de Grint long after most other drivers had gone home. Steady on Kimi, you might end up winning the world championship at this rate!
