Today was a good day for Rubens Barrichello. He finished fifth in the British Grand Prix for AT&T Williams and then went on the BBC’s Top Gear, where he set the fastest ever lap by an F1 driver in the programme’s “Star In A Reasonably Priced Car”. We’ve always said he was good!

The unseasonably hot weather at Silverstone has driven people mad, and none more than our very own Claire Williams. She drove into the circuit this morning – windows open, shades on – and then forgot to close the windows. Only when a member of the public got in touch with a team receptionist in Grove did she realise what she’d done – and none of her team kit sitting on the passenger seat was stolen.

Ginny Williams, Frank’s wife, was a welcome visitor to the AT&T Williams motorhome today. It was her first appearance at a race this year, so we interviewed her once she’d returned home to get her thoughts on Team Willie in 2010. Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg both put in an appearance at Silverstone’s post-race party this afternoon, before heading to the airport. However, one driver remained in the F1 paddock until late: Fernando Alonso. The double world champion had dinner in the Ferrari motorhome, while watching Spain win the World Cup Final on TV. At least he had something to cheer about...
