Eastern promise. Kazuki Nakajima enjoyed another top weekend in the GP2 Series at the Nurburgring. The ATT Williams test driver finished third in both races, as he did at Silverstone two weeks ago. Only two steps left to climb, Kaz!
Cult film director Quentin Tarantino was an interested spectator on race day. This year’s F1 season would make a fabulous script for a movie: was Tarantino, who made his name directing Reservoir Dogs, interested? “No, but the cars are amazing,” he said.
John Tucker Jnr was the name being cursed by every professional F1 photographer at the Nurburgring. The American holidaymaker managed to take the perfect photograph of Lewis Hamilton’s accident during qualifying, capturing the moment when the young Brit hit the barriers head-on. Felipe Massa’s helmet and left arm have been adorned with a black stripe this weekend in remembrance of the 200 people that died in last week’s plane crash at Sao Paulo’s Congonhas Airport. “It’s a difficult moment for my country,” said Massa, who is a Paulista. “I want to try and do something good for my country, that’s why I put the stripe on my helmet and arm.”
