Saturday iWitness at Hockenheim

A warm welcome to Silvana, Eduardo and Fernando Barrichello. Rubens’ wife and two sons arrived at Hockenheim this evening for what is their first visit en masse to a grand prix this year. The Barrichello motorhome’s going to be cosy tonight…It was another first on Nico Hulkenberg’s side of the garage. His girlfriend, Laura, put in her first appearance at a grand prix today and we’re not quite sure what she made of all the speeding cars because she’s a trainee policewoman!
Members of the press got scared witless this evening when they were given taxi rides around Hockenheim by various drivers. “It’s lucky we weren’t on the old circuit,” said Fernando Alonso after jumping out of a 458 Italia. “That would have scared them even more!”
Mark Webber was singing the praises of Valentino Rossi today. The MotoGP legend returned to racing last weekend at the Sachsenring, just six weeks after breaking his right tibia – an injury similar to the one suffered by Mark last year. “It’s incredible to see him back on the bike so soon,” says Mark. “He knows better than anyone that he can’t afford to fall on it again. It shows what determination he has and how much confidence he has in his own ability.”
