The accommodation at Spa-Francorchamps ain’t great. We all know that. But our hotel in Liege is infinitely more comfortable than the engineers’ truck, which is why we turned around late last night. We hosted a dinner for Philips’ guests in our motorhome this evening. But it wasn’t your average three-course feast because chef Adam Dixon chopped all the vegetables for the meal in front of the guests using a Philips food processor. That’s product placement for you!
There were birthdays galore today. Former AT&T Williams driver Mark Webber turned 34, Jonathan Noble from Autosport was 37 and former F1 star Derek Warwick was 56. “Drivers only reach their peak in their mid-30s,” says RBS ambassador Jackie Stewart. “Even late-30s.” Time is clearly on your side, Mark.
Jos Verstappen was back in the F1 paddock today, but he wasn’t looking for a drive himself. ‘Jos The Boss’ is now managing the career of son Max and the pair were spotted hopping from motorhome-to-motorhome. We wonder which Motorhome he’ll end up in?
