Suzuka's iWitness: Thursday
Posted on Friday 08 Oct 2010 and tagged with iwitness, suzuka, japan.
There’s a healthy glow coming from the AT&T Williams pit garage this weekend, thanks to the boys spending 10 days in the sun since the Singapore Grand Prix. They were split between Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, and all had a good time. All except the engineers, that is, who returned to the UK after Singapore. They’re the white, tired-looking ones…
The high number of flying hours in the last 10 days might explain why the engineers struggled at dinner last night. They found themselves sitting on the floor of a traditional Japanese restaurant over dinner and after a few beers they couldn’t get up!
We’ve worked the drivers hard during the build-up to Suzuka. After a 30-hour trip from Sao Paulo, Rubens threw himself into a day with Thomson Reuters, while Nico was at RBS headquarters in Tokyo. No rest for the wicked, eh?
A quick shout out to mechanic Nick Whitlam, who’s not in Japan this weekend because his wife is having a baby. Good luck to the Whitlams! His position in the race team has been temporarily filled this weekend by Steve Salmon from the test team.
