Williams driver Nico Rosberg headed to the South of France last weekend for a party. “I invited 10 friends for a barbecue,” says Nico. “I cooked T-bone steak, which was delicious!” It was an electric Barbie, however, because father Keke doesn’t allow charcoal on the farm. Something to do with fire risk – to the surrounding vegetation? Or Nico’s hair?!
Damon Hill is a welcome visitor at the Hungaroring this weekend. The 1996 World Champion won two races at the track – in 1993 and ’95 – and he is returning this year to commentate alongside James Allen for ITV. Martin Brundle, Allen’s regular sidekick, is on holiday.
Talking of former F1 champions, Nelson Piquet has had to go back to school in his home city of Brasilia. The 54-year-old Brazilian lost his driving licence in June due to an excessive number of driving offences and has begun 30 hours of “corrective classes”. “We have to pay for our mistakes,” said Nelson.
Congratulations to ATT Williams’s podcast presenter David Croft, who celebrated the birth of his first child a fortnight ago. Daniel Joseph Michael Croft entered the world at just over 8lbs and mum, Vicky, and babe are doing well.
