Happy birthday to the boss. Frank Williams turned 69 today and you’ll never guess how he spent his big day… in the office! He shared his birthday with Force India driver Paul di Resta, who celebrated by getting into Q3 for the first time in his F1 career.

Sauber’s press officer, Heike Hientzsch, got a shock when the boxer shorts, t-shirts and trousers belonging to James Broughton, number one mechanic on Pastor Maldonado’s car, were delivered to her hotel room this morning. At least we assume she got a shock, or is there something we haven’t been told?

The drivers need to watch what they eat while they’re in China because all meat, and as a consequence all dairy products, contains traces of the drug clenbuterol, which is on the FIA’s list of banned substances. Clenbuterol is a slimming agent that’s injected into animals to keep the meat lean and several high profile athletes have been caught out in the past, including three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador.

Even without the help of clenbuterol, the weight is falling off our head of communications Claire Williams. She ran the track this evening, having already cycled it on two previous occasions this week. Paula Radcliffe would be proud!
