iWitness in Spain: Thursday

A warm welcome to celebrity chef Michael Caines, who joins us in the motorhome this weekend. Far from this being a jolly, Michael is here to work – although he didn’t get off to a flying start this morning. He was half an hour late after forgetting to change his clock from British to Central European Time!
Aren’t army boys meant to be good at directions? Well, that’s not the case with former soldier Matt Jones. He took two wrong turns trying to get out of the airport car park on Wednesday; what chance him finding the marketing department’s hotel tonight?
At least Matt has plenty of experience driving on what the Brits call ‘the wrong side of the road’ (ie: on the right). That’s not the case for our PR guru Sophie Eden, who’s never previously driven abroad. She was thrown the keys of a hire car this morning and told to get on with it. “This team likes throwing me in at the deep end,” she says. “At least we made it to the track in one piece.”
After a slow start with the Spanish fans, dating back to when he was Fernando Alonso’s team-mate in 2007, Lewis Hamilton’s popularity in Spain has now rocketed. On Wednesday night he appeared alongside Jenson Button and Pedro de la Rosa on Buenafuente, one of Spain’s most popular talk shows. What next? A Spanish arm of the Lewis Hamilton fan club?
