New Set of Wheels

Nico Rosberg has a new set of wheels in Istanbul – and we’re not referring to the aerodynamic updates on his Williams FW29. The ATT Williams star is using a new double-plank scooter to get around the expansive paddock, but for all its novelty value, it does in fact resemble a zimmerframe. Alright ol’ boy?

 

Hairy Stuff

While Nico has a new board, Fernando Alonso has a new beard. It’s the first time this year that the double world champion has looked anything other than immaculate and, according to iWitness’s paddock moles, he’s grown it specifically to annoy McLaren boss Ron Dennis...

 

QPR?

If Alonso succeeds in annoying Ron, he could find himself looking elsewhere for a drive in 2008. If that were to happen, Fernando would most likely return to Renault and when iWitness asked Flavio Briatore – who is in the throes of buying English second division football club Queens Park Rangers – if he was interested in signing Alonso, the Renault boss said: “I have heard that he is a good footballer, so we’re looking to see if there is an option for him at QPR...”

 

Furniture Man

Bernie Ecclestone is the most powerful man in F1, yet he still found himself having to re-arrange the furniture in the Istanbul media centre on Friday. Some tables were blocking one of the press release stands and the 76-year-old set to work, lifting them out of the way. All the while the media staff stood and watched...
