iWitness Monza Sunday

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Paul McCartney and… Sam Michael. On Saturday evening ATT Williams’s Technical Director was spotted on the banks of Lake Como, which is home to the world’s uber-famous. But try as he might, Sam didn’t succeed in quaffing fine wine with any celebrities; he was there to address a group of Americans at a Grand Prix Tours event.

Nico Rosberg must be fed up with the tight parking spaces in Monaco. He scuffed a wheel arch of his Audi RS4 recently while parking it in an underground garage, and since then he has been trying to buy a scooter for getting around the Principality. “I want one of those retro-looking ones,” says Nico. “I had a look at some after the Turkish Grand Prix, but didn’t like any of the colours, so I didn’t get one.”

Some people can’t stay away from F1. Jimmy Jock, an ex-employee and still a loyal friend of ATT Williams, paid the team a visit in the Monza paddock on Saturday. He spent more than 25 years working for Williams as a truckie, before leaving a couple of years ago to pursue a quieter life. Quiet for Jimmy-speed-addict-Jock involves working for an off-shore powerboat team…!

Love or loathe ITV-F1 commentator Martin Brundle, you can no longer accuse him of being a second-hand car salesman. He revealed over dinner with iWitness on Saturday evening that he sold his Norfolk-based car dealerships in January. He’s now just a driver manager, F1 commentator and entrepreneur.
