iWitness Spa Friday

Posted on Saturday 15 Sep 2007

We know you’ve never raced an F1 car at Spa-Francorchamps, Nico, but this is a worrying revelation. When German TV station RTL asked you to draw a map of the track while blindfolded, you ended up going off the edge of the table! Everyone at ATT Williams assumes – make that hopes – that you were trying to draw the old 9.3-mile (15km) Spa-Francorchamps.

Is a former BMX World Champion, Alex Wurz is getting in touch with his two-wheeled roots this weekend. He has invited former MotoGP star Jurgen van den Goorbergh to the Belgian GP, which might yet prove useful. In his prime, the Flying Dutchman (now 38) was masterful at optimising strategy in wet conditions, and we are at Spa.

How will the FIA spend McLaren’s $100 million fine? Well, they could give it all to charity; or they could buy the diamond-encrusted skull that Damien Hirst designed and sold in August for $100m; or they could pay back the World Bank’s recent $100m donation to Lebanon; or they could mirror the philanthropic largesse of Nike co-founder Phil Knight, who give the University of Oregon $100m two months ago.
