Paul Ricard Test: Day One
Posted on Wednesday 14 May 2008 and tagged with testing.
The AT&T Williams team joined the rest of the Formula One fraternity today for a three day test session at the Paul Ricard circuit in France.
Nico Rosberg assumed testing responsibilites, on his agenda was preparation work for the forthcoming race on the streets of Monte Carlo next week, including a run through of the Monaco-specific downforce package, tyre testing and reliability evaluation of various new components for his FW30.
Nico was the busiest man of all ten drivers at the French track, covering 154 laps of the shorter 2D-SC Short 3.93kms track, which was re-configured specifically for this week's running to closer replicate the Monegasque circuit. Nico recorded the sixth quickest time of the day with a time of 1:06.571, nine tenths of a second behind fastest-paced man, Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren.
Sam Michael, Technical Director, Williams F1:
“Nico joined the team for the first day of a three day test at the Paul Ricard circuit in France today. The team worked on aerodynamic and mechanical test items in preparation for next weekend’s race in Monaco. Nico also spent some of the session completing long runs in order to prove reliability on some new components.”
