Canada: For the Record

All the 10s
1980 was a memorable year for Alan Jones in Canada. Not only did he secure Williams’ 10th win and his 10th front row start, it also gave him back to back wins in the Canadian Grand Prix.
A Milestone Victory
Nigel Mansell’s Canadian GP win in 1986 was the 25th for the team, and one of the team’s most impressive, too: “Everything went perfectly. The engine picked up well off the line and the car handled beautifully. After my pit stop, my only rival was the fuel gauge.” Nigel said afterwards.
First Things First
A win for Damon Hill at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 1996 started a run of five straight wins for Williams, three for Hill and two for Villeneuve, which helped to secure the Constructors’ Championship for the fourth time in five years.
One Hundred And Forty
Since it was formed, the team has averaged a haul of five points on each visit to Canada, scoring 146 points in all Canadian Grand Prix over the years.
Record Breakers
Williams has historically done well at the Canadian GP, with a record eight pole positions and 18 front row starts. Williams has won seven times, as well as setting the fastest lap seven times.
