iWitness at Silverstone: Friday

We’ve always had a good relationship with our friends at McLaren, so it was fun to spend time with them in their Brand Centre last night. Being our paddock neighbours this year, they invited us in for a drink and for a look around their three-story building – and mighty impressive it is too.
Silverstone might not be good enough for Bernie Ecclestone any more, but it’s still okay for Royalty. The Duke of Kent – a member of the BRDC – was our guest today, chaperoned by RBS ambassador Sir Jackie Stewart.
Nico Rosberg doesn’t live in Finland and nor can he speak the language, but there is something about Finland that he can’t live without: liquorice. He’s a happy camper this weekend because a friend from Helsinki has brought him three bags of his favourite candy. That should keep him sweet.
Sebastian Vettel appears to be more English than the English drivers on the grid. A self-confessed Beatles, Monty Python and Little Britain fan, Sebastian made a guest appearance at the BRDC Ball last night, despite not being a member of the BRDC. Surely he’ll be made an honorary member some time soon....
