Kazuki's German Blog: Saturday

The expected rain never arrived today, at least not during any of the on-track business. Final practice and qualifying were dry, and it was only when I was doing my television interviews outside the motorhome that it started to bucket down! There was a frantic scramble for umbrellas and, ultimately, no-one got too wet.We could have done with a bit of rain on the track because the grid is so close in the dry, with just two seconds covering the entire grid in Q1. I qualified 16th, but was only 0.2s away from 10th position! At least you can overtake here, so I’m still hopeful of having a good race.
One thing that I can be sure of tomorrow is support in the grandstands. There are a lot of Japanese people at this race, as I discovered during an official autograph signing session this afternoon. Before going, I practised my key German phrases, but spent more time talking to the fans in Japanese! The international reach of Formula 1 never ceases to amaze me.
