iWitness in Budapest: Saturday

Everyone on the AT&T Williams race team wanted a good night’s sleep
on Friday and in the case of Nic Perrin, Kazuki Nakajima’s data
engineer, it became too good. He overslept, missing his 0645 minibus on
Saturday. When Nic eventually awoke at 0815, he had to catch a cab to
the circuit costing 50 euros. Don’t try putting that on expenses…
Kazuki was looking forward to the Oris dinner in the motorhome tonight.
The Q&A session conducted by Marc Surer is usually good fun, but
Kaz needed to have words with the people at Oris about his
watch...which is broken!
The M3 motorway leading from Budapest to the Hungaroring was blocked
this morning following an accident involving the minibus of GP2 team
DPR. No-one was seriously injured, thank goodness, but the main cause
of the traffic jam was the air ambulance. It landed in case anyone
needed hospitalisation and then broke down so it couldn’t take off.
Force India invited the F1 paddock into their motorhome this evening.
By the time team owner VJ Mallya had filled it with 50 grid girls
(seriously...!), there wasn’t much room for manoeuvre. Still, it was a
very enjoyable do and thank you for the invite.
