Kazuki's Valencia Blog: Saturday

I have mixed feelings after today. I’m pleased with my performance because I completed a good lap at the end of Q2 to be 11th, but I’m also frustrated to miss out on Q3 by just one hundredth of a second. I haven’t started a race from inside the top 10 this year and I’ll just have to keep pushing until I do.
At least I’ll be starting on the clean side of the track, so I hope to make a good getaway. It’ll then be a question of getting through Turn 2, a tight second-gear right-hander, without incident and trying to put together a good race. Such is the stop-start nature of this track that it’s the worst for fuel consumption of the year, so it will be more important than ever to have a good strategy.
I then had dinner with Patrick Head in the Holiday Inn, which was very enjoyable. He has so much experience of Formula 1 that I could listen to him all day because he has so many stories. Frank's children, Claire and Jonathan Williams, then joined us and he told me what they were like when they were young! Apparently they were both very sweet...!
