Kazuki's Valencia Blog: Sunday

I know how to make myself unpopular in Spain! It was unfortunate that I hit Fernando Alonso on the opening lap of the European Grand Prix, but I hope the fans in Valencia understood that there was nowhere for me to go.
Fernando braked at a place where we’re usually hard on the power and I was very close to him so I had nowhere to go, other than into the back of him. I was already going 30kph slower than on a normal lap, so I guess the only thing you can say is that it was a racing incident.
Thereafter my race was pretty much ruined because I had to pit for a new nose and I was then stuck behind Rubens Barrichello until lap 51, when I passed him for 15th position. In clean air I was able to lap faster, but it was too late for me to make any more progress up the order. All in all, it was a frustrating way to end a promising weekend and I’m pleased for the team that Nico managed to score a point.
From here I head back to the UK for a few days before going to Monza on Thursday, where I’m driving the FW30 in low downforce trim on Friday. Then on 7th September it’s the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, which is one of my favourite circuits.
