iWitness in Shanghai: Friday
Posted on Saturday 18 Oct 2008
It’s amazing how quickly word gets around. After Spanish TV broadcaster TV3 gave Kazuki Nakajima an FC Barcelona shirt at Fuji Speedway, Catalunya Radio is trying to muscle in on the football story as well. Following an interview with Kazuki this afternoon, a journalist from the radio station promised Kazuki tickets in the Royal Box to watch a match on the Saturday night of next year’s Spanish Grand Prix. Er… I’m an Arsenal fan. Anyone?Nico Rosberg discovered today that Shanghai hasn’t in fact all been built in the last 10 years. He was taken to the Yuyuan Gardens, which date back to the 14th century, by German TV station RTL for an interview. “It was fun,” says Nico. “We even drank lots of green tea in one of the traditional tea houses there.”
Various members of the fourth estate were guests of AT&T Williams in the Paddock Cub today. Journalists from the Times, the Daily Mail, The Sun, the Independent and some members of the specialist press ate and drank their way through the menu, before retiring to the media centre, no doubt for an afternoon nap.
Kimi Raikkonen turned 29 today. By way of celebration, Ferrari presented him with a birthday cake after practice, but he was quick to point out that he’d rather have a belated birthday celebration on Sunday afternoon, using a bottle of champagne on the podium.
