Ralf Schumacher set the fastest lap at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2001, the first of five occasions he would do so during the season.
Nineteen Ninety Two
Williams made a faultless start to the 1992 season, with its one-two finish at the Brazilian Grand Prix the third in the first three rounds of the Formula One World Championship. Nigel Mansell finished the season as Drivers’ Champion with the team securing its first Constructors’ Championship in five years.
Six
Williams cars took pole position for six years on the trot from 1992 thanks to Mansell, Prost, Senna, Hill (twice) and Villeneuve. Williams have had more front row places (20) and set more fastest laps (10) in Brazil than any other team.
Dream Debut
Nelson Piquet must have had to pinch himself at the 1986 Brazilian Grand Prix. In his first race for Williams, he qualified second on the grid and went on to win in front of his home crowd. He would eventually win four Grand Prix that season, helping the team to its first Constructors’ Championship for five years.
17
Damon Hill’s second place in the 1994 Brazilian Grand Price was the final one in a run of 17 consecutive races in which Williams drivers made it onto the podium. All in all, Williams drivers have finished on the podium 16 times in Brazil.
