Silverstone Test Day Two
Posted on Wednesday 20 Jun 2007
AT&T Williams returned to the test track this week for the first time since last month’s Paul Ricard session in France. Ahead of the forthcoming French and British double header, the majority of teams have descended upon Northamptonshire’s 5.141km Silverstone Circuit for the annual pre-British Grand Prix test, made all the more exciting as all the race drivers are guaranteed to attend. Representing the team, test driver Kazuki Nakajima headed up the first day on track having left Indianapolis early on Saturday to ensure he had recovered from any potential jet-lag. Kazuki covered the highest number of laps of any driver (124) while testing a new aero package on the FW29. His fastest recorded time was a 1:24.665 placing him eighth on the time sheets. Alex took over testing on day two and continued evaluating the revised aero parts while also making set-up preparations for Magny-Cours and Silverstone. At the end of the day, Dickie Stanford, the team’s Test Team Manager, commented: “Alex took over from Kazuki for the second day of testing at Silverstone today. We’re currently trying out a new aero package and have been working through revised set-ups to compliment it. We’ll now spend the evening preparing the car for Nico who will run tomorrow on our last day. Alex enjoyed a thoroughly successful day, completing the schedule as planned and clocking the third fastest lap time with a 1:21.904.
