iWitness in Australia: Friday

Many drivers claim to have lost weight over the winter and Spanish broadcaster TV3 has endeavoured to find how much. Today they placed Nico Rosberg on some scales, but there was a problem… “There’s no way I weight that much,” said Nico. Doh!

So far so good for Nico Rosberg. The AT&T Williams driver won a game of poker in the Crown Plaza hotel last night (watched by world number 5 poker player Joe Hachem), before topping the times in both of today’s practice sessions. Whatever next: pole position and a race win?

All of the drivers were invited to a Red Bull beach party this evening, but hosts Red Bull Australia underestimated the impact of the late practice sessions and the cold weather. Neither of the AT&T Williams drivers left the track before 10pm – already way past their bed times.

Tracy Novak, Brawn GP’s head of communications, last missed a race in 2006, when Jenson Button scored his maiden victory in F1. She isn’t present in Australia this weekend; what chance a Brawn victory?
