That was a frustrating qualifying session for me because I would have made it into Q3 had I not made a mistake at the final corner of my last lap in Q2. I was pushing hard and lost time with some mid-corner oversteer, which was frustrating. It would have been great for the team to have two cars in the top 10, but it wasn’t to be.

With the two Toyotas being dropped to the back of the grid for technical reasons, I’m starting the race from 11th place and it should be possible to pick up a good result from there. It’s going to be vital to stay out of trouble early on, but if I can do that I should be there or thereabouts at the chequered flag.

Nico demonstrated the potential of the FW31 by qualifying fifth. His fastest lap of Q2, when all the cars were on light fuel, was only 0.4s slower than the fastest Brawn-Mercedes of Rubens Barrichello, so the car is clearly a good one. Let’s hope we can both do it justice tomorrow!
