Silvia Hoffer, AT&T Williams press officer, has become the second member of the team to take a tumble at Sepang this weekend. CEO Adam Parr slipped-up in the rain on Friday afternoon and Silvia’s legs went from under her this evening. She banged her head and needed two stitches in her left elbow, but still she managed to deliver the press releases in the media centre. What a woman!

Both AT&T Williams drivers are remaining in the Far East prior to the Chinese Grand Prix in two weeks time. Nico is heading to Bali, where he will indulge his passion for photography, while Kazuki is returning home to Japan. While at home near Nagoya, Kazuki will do a PR day at Suzuka Circuit. “I can’t wait,” he says. “I’ll try and drive a road car around the track while I’m there because it’s such a great place.”

Had the Malaysian Grand Prix remained dry, the AT&T Williams engineers think that Nico could have finished second to Jenson Button. The Briton passed Nico at the first pitstops, but some predictive analysis proves that our boy had the legs to beat the second Brawn driver, Rubens Barrichello. “It was great to be challenging at the front on merit,” said Nico.

A thought mooted by one of the AT&T Williams mechanics after the race: had Bernie Ecclestone’s idea of medals for the podium finishers been approved, would today’s race have resulted in half-medals to reflect the allocation of half-points?
