Kazuki's Turkish Blog: Thursday

This year’s lack of testing between races feels weird. I love driving Formula One cars, but I don’t get to do much of that: there are the races, of course, but the only other mileage I get is when I drive the simulator at the AT&T Williams factory. As a result, I’m doing a lot of training at the moment. Since Monaco, I’ve worked hard on the left side of my neck because Istanbul Park is one of only three circuits on this year’s calendar that runs in an anti-clockwise direction. The notoriously fast Turn 8 left-hander, through which we pull up to 5g for seven seconds, will give us a really good workout over 58 laps on Sunday, so it’s important to prepare for that.
But when I haven’t been training, I’ve taken to cleaning my house in Oxford. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I like to have everything ‘just-so’, whether it’s my house, my car or my cupboards. That probably makes me a nightmare to live with (just ask my girlfriend, or some of my friends at Oxford Brookes University!), but it’s actually quite satisfying to keep on top of things in this manner.
Nothing, though, will be more satisfying than getting a good result in Turkey this weekend. I’ve got my eye on a points finish; let’s see what I can do.
