Kazuki's Turkish Blog: Sunday

I am so disappointed with the outcome of today’s race. Until my second pitstop, everything was going smoothly: I made a good start from the dirty side of the grid, I was lapping quickly and I was lying comfortably in the points, ahead of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.
Then I came in for my final pitstop and there was a problem with the front left wheel nut, which cost me 19 seconds. As far as points were concerned, it was game over and I finished 12th - where I’d started the race. But it could have been so much better and I was looking forward to taking my first points of the year. I keep telling myself that every sportsman has to take the rough with the smooth; I should be thankful that AT&T Williams gave me such a good car.
At least today’s result gives me confidence. We had a new front wing at Istanbul Park and we have more aerodynamic developments for the next race on the calendar at Silverstone. We can go there, the team’s home race, knowing that we have a quick car. Perhaps I’ll get another opportunity there to finish what I’d started at Istanbul.
Now, though, it’s back to Oxford for more training and a chance to catch up with friends. I hope my flat’s clean...
