Andrew’s passion for motorsport began in the mud of his native Northern Ireland, where he raced quad bikes as a teenager. He developed an innovative suspension system for his quad in a subsequent A-Level project and then went on to read mechanical engineering at Queens University, Belfast.
While studying in Belfast, Andrew spent his weekends and holidays working for an Irish Formula Ford team run by Chris Paul, and he spent his university placement year at Reynard Racing Cars on a graduate training scheme.
After graduating from Belfast University in 2000, Andrew did a Masters in Automotive Engineering at Cranfield University. He then joined Lola Cars to work on their ChampCar programme in 2001.
Andrew joined Williams in September 2006 as the test team’s data engineer and he was promoted to the race team in mid-’08 to work with Kazuki Nakajima. In 2010 he worked with Nico Hulkenberg and he’s been Pastor Maldonado’s data engineer ever since the Venezuelan graduated to F1 in 2011.
After stepping up to become Pastor Maldonado's Race Engineer in 2013 Andrew will now work as the Race Engineer for Felipe Massa in 2014.
