Carlos Reutemann and Alan Jones win four races and bag the team its second consecutive constructors' championship. Reutemann loses out on the drivers' title by one point at the final race in Las Vegas, leading him to announce his retirement from the sport. Off-track, the team’s meteoric rise through the ranks is acknowledged by Her Majesty the Queen, when Frank Williams receives the Queen’s Award for Export. The team’s title sponsorship changes hands mid-season from Abilad Williams to TAG Williams.

Either of the team’s two 1-2 finishes, scored at the USA GP West and the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Alan Jones breaks his little finger in a fight in the middle of the season, following a traffic incident in London. He carries on driving, despite four of his fingers having to be bandaged.
